WPRB Membership Drive show tonight!

Ok, everyone. Tonight is the night. We’re going to all help make WPRB history.

Starting at 7:00 pm ET, I’ll be hosting a special five hour show for WPRB’s first ever Membership Drive. There will be lots of one-time specialty gifts available only during my show, from DVD box sets (“Freaks & Geeks,” anyone?) to signed records (quadruple lp version of “Daydream Nation” autographed by Thurston Moore and Steve Shelly of Sonic Youth interest you?), plus brand-new live performances from…

The A-Sides, Jennifer O’Connor, Adam Arcuragi, Steve from The Swimmers and other surprise guests. Jennifer will even be playing covers in exchange for your pledges!

The entire show will be made up of recordings that were engineered at WPRB. It is an evening of exclusive performances that you can’t hear anywhere else and that wouldn’t exist without WPRB, just another reason why WPRB is unique, providing 14,000 watts of free form community-supported, community-created radio.

also…

IF I CAN RAISE $25,000 DURING THIS SHOW, I WILL ADD A 25TH HOUR TO MY 2007 24-HOUR XMAS SHOW. Donations to aid WPRB’s operating costs can be accepted at http://pledge.wprb.com or by calling 609.258.1033. While WPRB is located on the Princeton University campus, the school does not provide WPRB with a single dollar of operating support.

WPRB has never attempted something like this before, and it should be a crazy night.

Please make sure to mention my show when pledging.

…If WPRB was the first place you heard your band on the radio.

…If WPRB has ever played your request for a song you couldn’t find anywhere else.

…If your band has ever played live on WPRB and gained new fans in the process.

…If you’ve ever won tickets to see a show (or ten) on WPRB.

…If WPRB was the first place you heard your band played on the radio.

…If you’ve ever stayed up all night listening to WPRB’s 24-Hour Holiday Radio Show.

…If you ever let your car idle waiting for a DJ to finish their break.

…If WPRB is the only radio station that comes up when you Google your old band from twenty+ years ago that you see is still playing your songs.

…If WPRB has ever helped you track down that out-of-print record or helped you find a band based on a lyric you heard while tuning in one day.

…If you’ve enjoyed any of the 200+ live performances on WPRB over the past five years.

…f you’ve ever encountered unfamiliar music on WPRB that has since become one of your favorite things to listen to.

IT IS TIME TO DONATE!

Thanks for listening,

Jon Solomon
