Jon Solomon’s 2020 Holiday Radio Show.

It is happening.

The 2020 edition of my 25-Hour Holiday Radio Show on 103.3 fm WPRB will begin on Christmas Eve at 5:00 pm ET and run until Christmas Day at 6:00 pm ET.

For the first (and hopefully last) time ever, the marathon will transpire LIVE FROM HOME, broadcast from my dining room table.

My wish for this year in particular is that the show brings all of us together, listening to the same songs and stories, even as we’re very much apart during this global pandemic.

Everything but the location should be as you remember it (knocks nervously on laptop), with new surprises planned for year 32.

Press folks, don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Now, let’s talk Christmas Stories!

Each of the last nine years I have asked a number of friends, musicians, comedians and others that I admired to record their definition of an original “Christmas story” to be interspersed throughout my marathon, alongside Snaildartha: The Story of Jerry the Christmas Snail, the all-Misfits-inspired sets, Ramones-o-Clock, Lindstrom’s “Little Drummer Boy,” the all-Fall Christmas set, Joel Phelps’ myriad pieces and other annual favorites.

This addition has brought a new level of excitement to the program and made the tradition all the more special.

For year 32, I’m again counting on YOU!

I’m not going to list all the amazing people who have recorded pieces in the past this time out. You know the score.

The deadline for 2020 is December 21st.

What is a Christmas Story?

Well…it can be a reading of a favorite Xmas tale, a cover of a holiday song you love or an original piece.

I leave that in your capable hands.

I’d love to receive so many recordings that I can once again debut one of these an hour throughout the marathon.

Submissions can be sent to this email address.

My lone request is that you do not post your piece elsewhere before it airs during the show! Please! Afterwards go nuts, just mention the show when you do share on Bandcamp / Soundcloud / Quibi / etc.

Please spread the word and have a safe holiday season.

Ps. Songs inspired by The Fall, The Ramones and/or The Misfits will always get priority status!

Please don’t play Mel Torme doing Good King Wenceslas! Or, if you must, play it early in the morning when I won’t hear it.

    Happy Hanukkah!

Nice to see Jerry’s magnet posted! Looking forward to this year’s show. We really need it right about now.

Hello! My name is CLOVER and I’m originally from Lambertville, NJ. I’d love if you played my latest single “Is Christmas Still Alive” on the Holiday Radio Show! This song is an honest representation of how I feel about the holiday season this year. Having spent each Christmas with my family on the East Coast where the weather is often cold and snowy, it feels disheartening to be on the road away from them in a climate that doesn’t match the classic Christmas vibe. Throw a pandemic on top of that and you might find yourself asking the question: “Is Christmas Still Alive?”

Dear Jon — The Everything Is Terrible! folks posted a new holiday collection to their Bandcamp yesterday. It’s WONDERFUL. If nothing else, you’ve got to play that “X-Mas Day Rap” (from the little-seen 2000 movie “The Town That Outlawed Christmas”). It will be stuck in your head until April, I promise.
